Semi-Annual Board of
Health Report.
Rob Rockstroh,
Health and Human Services, reported this is a semi-annual report required by
the department. He said the state is
looking to give back 37 PSRB patients to the local communities. He said the state has an excess of forensic
patients. He noted there would be money in the governor’s budget for this. He thought Lane County had seven of these
types of patients in the community.
Rockstroh passed out
a report called SAMSHA. (Copy in file)
He suggested possibly using this matrix for Lane County.
Rockstroh reported
that Public Health ended up brokering the flu vaccine. He said they kept up with the vaccines.
Dwyer stated he had
calls from people who were disabled and elderly who found it difficult to wait
in a line in inclement weather. He
thought they should have a clinic for those people indoors so they don’t have
to battle in line with able-bodied people.
Green recommended
that they bring this to the Fair Board to have the fairgrounds as a site for
the clinic.
Rockstroh noted they
have also been going to the nursing homes to give shots.
Green asked about
the back-up plan for methadone treatment.
Rockstroh said they
would be able to carry the patients for a while. He noted they phase out the clients, they don’t make them go cold
turkey. He said he hadn’t seen a study about
all of the people that were back on the streets. He noted in Marion County that
some clients went back to the streets.
Dwyer commented they
weren’t successful in getting federal money for capital for the Federal Health
Clinic. He said they need to make an
effort to see that it is added.
Morrison asked how
many WIC coupons were actually used for the service being provided. She noted
there was an increase in distribution of 900 coupon booklets and she wanted to
know how many were actually used.
Karen Gillette,
Health and Human Services, said they have a process to determine that and they
could find out that information.
