COMMITTEE VACANCY NOTICE

SUBJECT: PUBLIC SAFETY COORDINATING COUNCIL

The Board of Commissioners is seeking applications from Lane County residents interested in serving on the Public Safety Coordinating Council. Council responsibility includes serving on subcommittees and requires one meeting per month.
PUBLIC SAFETY COORDINATING COUNCIL: A regional advisory council for the Board of County Commissioners is charged with ensuring every effort is taken to effectively use resources to prevent crime, reduce crime, and increase the sense of safety within our communities. The PSCC strategy for meeting their charge is three-fold:
· Have a mechanism to monitor system progress that allows PSCC to know how well it is doing in meeting its charge.
· Explore and implement appropriate governance models that increase system efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and
· Make sure there is a continuum of programs and services that promote healthy behavior, ensure the ability to protect the community, and hold offenders accountable.
MEETING SCHEDULE: Third Thursday of January, March, May, September, November
VACANCIES: Two (2) lay citizen positions to be appointed respectively by Commissioners Faye Stewart and Bill Fleenor. Applicants should be representative of the community with a specific interest and knowledge in public safety issues.
TERM OF APPOINTMENT: 2 years.
