The Lane County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications from citizens interested in serving on the advisory committee listed below. The committee advises the Board of Commissioners on a wide variety of topics and issues. Details about the committee and its composition, meeting schedule etc., are listed below.
PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE: Makes recommendations to the Public Health Administrator and advises the Board of Health and the Board of Commissioners on matters of public health, planning, policy development, control measures, funding, public education and advocacy; and acts in a community liaison capacity to provide a link between the community and the Public Health Division.
MEETING SCHEDULE: Monthly, second Tuesday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
VACANCIES: One (1) – designated to be filled by a person “licensed by the state as a health care practitioner”.
TERM: The position is a 4 year term (commencing on 9/1/2011 and ending on 8/31/2015).
MEMBERSHIP: Consists of twelve (12) members with a broad public health interest and concern, not limited to single interests or issues. Committee representation shall include geographic, socioeconomic, and professional interests. Membership shall include: five (5) persons “licensed by this state as health care practitioners” and seven (7) “persons who are informed on and interested in public health matters”. (ORS 431.412 (5) (a) (b) Public members with diverse backgrounds are preferred. County employees are not eligible for membership.

The Lane County Board of Commissioners in cooperation with the Cities of Eugene and Springfield through the Human Services Commission (HSC) is seeking applications from citizens interested in serving on the Human Services Community Action Advisory Committee.
The Community Action Advisory Committee (CAAC) provides advice on services that alleviate the conditions of poverty and promote and improve the health, well being, self-sufficiency, and safety of low-income, disadvantaged and disabled Lane County residents. The committee reviews the budget and plans for the operation of human services sponsored by the Human Services Commission. A general list of services under the current budget and plan are:
- Crisis Intervention, Information and Referral, and Outreach Services for homeless, mentally-ill, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, Latinos and youth.
- Crisis Prevent Services assisting with rent, utility payments, energy conservation, financial management education and home weatherization.
- Emergency Housing and Access Center Services for homeless persons.
- Health Care for homeless and/or for low-income uninsured or underinsured persons.
- Self-Sufficiency Services including supportive housing, independent living, case management, rent assistance, and supportive services for families, at-risk youth and seniors.
- Nutrition Services including residential meals, food boxes, meal to go and soup kitchens.
- Veterans Services assisting veterans and/or dependants and survivors in obtaining veteran’s health, disability and other benefits.
Meeting Schedule: Meets monthly and as needed during budget and planning cycles.
Membership: Four members are designated to represent the jurisdictions public officials; four members are representatives for low-income persons including public welfare, advocacy organizations, and a human services recipient and urban and rural representative of low-income, and four members represent clergy, health care, criminal justice, and rural and urban communities
Vacancy: One vacancy is under recruitment for a Community Representative, and three vacancies for Public Official or their Designee.
Term of Appointment: The community representative is a four-year term, the public official or designee positions are one-year terms.
