Commissioner Faye Stewart presided with Commissioners Bill Dwyer, Bill
Fleenor and Peter Sorenson present. Bobby
Green, Sr. was excused. County Administrator Bill Van Vactor, County Counsel
Teresa Wilson and Recording Secretary Melissa Zimmer were also present.

REGULAR BUSINESS
a.
REPORT/Semi-Annual Board of Health.
Rob
Rockstroh gave his semi-annual Board of Health report.
He discussed the Public Health building and the Community Health Centers.
With Project Homeless Connect, he reported that they had over 900 people come
in. He thought it would become an annual event.
He indicted with Public Health, Lane County has a higher than average
death rate among infants. He said they need to work on a process that gets to fetal
infant mortality review. He
indicated that if they take a budget hit, they will lose more Parole and
Probation workers. He added that
the state hasn’t come through with the money from the Department of
Corrections.
Fleenor
asked how many cuts there would be with Budget 2
Rockstroh
said they could possibly be giving Public Health back to the state.
He said 12 programs would be zeroed out.
Stewart
asked how much of an effort it would be to try to get Medicaid users in the
clinic. He asked if they could do
advertising.
Rockstroh
said they have to start with the physicians and Medicaid could be part of their
base. He thought if they could
increase Medicaid, they could get 40 percent covered instead of 20 percent.
He said they need to do outreach and conversations with medical groups
and carriers.
Fleenor
wanted a mini- Project Connect in Florence to bring community resources to their
homeless population.
